Party People

Are you a party person, where are you at? Nelly and Fergie would love to hear from you. Ah yes. The heat-talking, Band-Aid wearing rapper has returned, and this time he has brought along that feisty little minx, Black Eyed Pea-er, Fergie.

It seems ever so long ago that we thought only sweet thoughts of Nelly. His hopeless fashion sense and his annoying, repetitive voice; It was all very endearing. He tried to appear street-wise and 'hard' and very cutely failed in every way.

Now, however, he seems to have taken on the persona that rappers such as Busta Rhymes and 50 Cent have had since day one; Nelly has adopted 'cool'.

Of course, wearing a black vest, teamed with overly-worked out biceps and a single chain of bling is quite the style in the rapper world. Not forgetting the impossibly expensive designer sunglasses and of course, a hot chic on his arm [but more about Fergie later]. But even with these essentials to make it big in the rapper world, it seems that Nelly has decided to become more aggressive and shout more, which is okay, but not the sweet Nelly we used to know who once sung delicately about taking clothes off and such.

It would be heart-breaking if it wasn't so wannabe-esque.

Somehow, Nelly's snagged Stacey Ferguson, aka- Fergie. This woman is also overly-worked out, but in a much sexier way. Is she needed to this record? No, not really. With Fergie's individual voice, you would have thought she would be more recognisable. Wrongo. Any dance track artist could have supplied the surly lyrics. Of course, Fergie makes this record. She adds the sex appeal, which every rap video needs [see 50 Cent and P.I.M.P]. Also, with Nelly lost to aggression, it seems that Fergie is desperately needed to cheer things up a tad; and she does as she swings from a rope swing in a cute little number. Fergie being on this record and in this video is certainly not a bad thing, and she is certainly not as insignificant as Cheryl Cole in Will.I.Am's Heart-breaker.

Party People is a catchy track. It is also the kind of track my mother would get very huffy about very quickly and attempt to switch the radio station off from in a matter of seconds. Of course it gets repetitive, of course there is a loud bass, of course there are lots of random siren sound-effects; but Nelly is back and possibly better, so do we care? I don't. Bring on the aggressiveness for a good number of years, my good fellow.
